This is the top musical ensemble at Miami Coral Park. The Wind Ensemble is a concert organization devoted to granting the composer and his audience the most faithful performances of his music; it is an ensemble which calls upon the strictest disciplines possible. Students in this ensemble are required to perform a solo at District S&E's as well as audition for All-State. It is a premiere group of musicians that will participate in local and state FBA evaluations as well as other venues. To participate in this group, students will need to audition as well as be a member of the Marching Band. Audition requirements generally include performance of major scales and prepared solos/exercises. In true formal symphony tradition, students in the Wind Ensemble are required to wear black tuxedos for the men and long black dresses for the women at all performances.
The Wind Ensemble is a two time National Adjudicator Invitational Participant winning Grand NAI in 1997 as well as a Bands of America National Concert Band Festival participant in Indianapolis, Indiana in 1999. The Wind Ensemble is a four-time Otto J. Kraushaar Memorial award recipient in 1997, 1998, 2011 & 2014.
